Disney has unveiled its latest holiday short film, "The Boy & The Octopus," directed by Academy Award® winner Taika Waititi. This heartwarming narrative follows a young boy who, during a seaside vacation, discovers a curious octopus attached to his head. As their bond deepens, the boy introduces his new friend to the wonders of life on land, sharing experiences like wielding a Jedi lightsaber and playing with a Buzz Lightyear action figure. Their adventures culminate in a festive journey, with the octopus cleverly concealed under a Mickey Mouse beanie, allowing it to experience the magic of the holiday season.

The short film is enriched by a rendition of "Part of Your World" from Disney's "The Little Mermaid" (1989), performed by a 60-piece orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. This musical choice mirrors the octopus's desire to explore the world beyond the sea, aligning seamlessly with the story's themes of curiosity and adventure.

In bringing the octopus character to life, the creative team drew inspiration from animals known for their endearing qualities, such as kittens with large, soulful eyes. This approach aimed to infuse the octopus with a sense of curiosity and playfulness, making it relatable and emotionally engaging for audiences.

"The Boy & The Octopus" is now available for streaming on Disney+ and can also be viewed on Disney's official YouTube channel. This release continues Disney's tradition of delivering heartfelt stories that resonate with audiences during the holiday season
