Whether you're welcoming a Christmas Elf to your shelf for the first time or reuniting with your favorite festive companion this year - everyone needs to know the Elf on the Shelf rules and process

An elf's job is to helpf Santa work out which children are being good. The 'Scout Elf' flies back to the North Pole each night and reports back to Santa.

When they return they can be a bit naughty and can end up in different places.

Some elves remain at the North Pole to assist Santa with last-minute tasks, so don't be concerned if your Santa arrives a bit later than others.

Elves need a special name chosen by you to give them the magic to fly back to the North Pole each night.

On December 24th, your elf will head back to the North Pole to assist Santa in final Christmas Eve preparations. Afterwards, they'll take a well-deserved rest in January and contribute to toy-making for the following Christmas.
