This November, cinema audiences will be treated to a bold and vibrant new holiday film: Christmas Karma. Opening in UK and Irish cinemas on 14 November 2025, the film reimagines Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol through a modern, multicultural lens, blending festive cheer with contemporary themes.
At the heart of the story is Mr. Sood, a modern-day Scrooge played by Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory). As in Dickens’ classic, his life is turned upside down by three ghostly visitors: Eva Longoria as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Billy Porter as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Boy George as the Ghost of Christmas Future. Other big names in the cast include Hugh Bonneville as Jacob Marley, Pixie Lott, Danny Dyer, and Charithra Chandran.

Directed and written by Gurinder Chadha, Christmas Karma infuses Dickens’ tale with the colour, music, and spectacle of a Bollywood-inspired musical. Expect a soundtrack that blends gospel, bhangra, carols, and pop, with original contributions from Gary Barlow, Shaznay Lewis, and Nitin Sawhney.
Beyond the spectacle, the film tackles timely issues of prejudice, identity, and belonging, using Mr. Sood’s journey as a mirror to current debates around refugees and migration. The familiar message of compassion and change is given new relevance in today’s world.
With its star-studded cast, toe-tapping soundtrack, and powerful social commentary, Christmas Karma promises to be more than just another festive film. It’s a celebration of community and a reminder that the spirit of Christmas is about empathy, generosity, and hope.
Christmas Karma releases in the UK and Ireland on 14 November 2025.
