Aldi has announced that all of its UK stores will be closed on Boxing Day, allowing staff to spend more time with their families this Christmas. The supermarket chain, which operates over 1,000 stores in the UK and employs more than 36,000 people, confirmed the decision as a way of thanking employees for their hard work.
As in previous years, Aldi, the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, will remain closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening on December 27 to help shoppers prepare for New Year's celebrations.
Richard Thornton, Aldi’s Director of Communications, said: "Christmas is such a special time for many of our colleagues, and by keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day, Aldi gives them more time to spend with their loved ones. Customers will have plenty to look forward to in the lead-up to Christmas, with exciting festive ranges hitting the shelves."
If only more stores followed Aldi’s example in appreciating their staff.
