Nine-year-old Brielle “Brie” Bird, who has been battling stage 4 neuroblastoma since she was just four years old, celebrated what her family are calling her “last Christmas” on October 7th — after doctors warned that her health had taken a sudden turn for the worse.
Her parents, Kendra and Chris Bird, transformed their home into a winter wonderland, complete with a sparkling Christmas tree, wrapped presents, and all the festive magic they could create. Surrounded by her siblings, friends, and loved ones, Brie smiled as the family filled their home with the sights and sounds of her favourite holiday — weeks ahead of schedule.
“Things took a turn SO quickly,” Brie’s mum shared in a recent post. “We wanted her to have one more Christmas — one filled with joy, light, and love.”

The family’s decision to bring Christmas forward came after Brie’s condition deteriorated sharply earlier this month. She recently underwent a blood transfusion to help manage her symptoms, which her mum said gave her “a little more strength and a few more moments” to talk and laugh with family again.
Brielle’s journey has touched hearts across the world. Since her first diagnosis in June 2020, she has endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries, and even celebrated almost two years of remission before her cancer returned in 2024. Through it all, her courage, smile, and fighting spirit have inspired thousands who follow her story online under the hashtag #BrieStrongerThanCancer.
In recent months, the family has openly shared the emotional highs and lows of their journey — and the incredible kindness of others. Earlier this year, singer Ariana Grande even sent Brie a Wicked-themed care package and a personal video message after hearing her story.
This early Christmas was never about gifts or grandeur — it was about love, laughter, and making every precious moment count.
“We can’t control how much time we have,” Kendra wrote, “but we can make the most of it. And for Brie, that means Christmas — her favourite day of the year.”
As word of the family’s celebration spread, messages of support have poured in from around the world — from strangers, fellow cancer families, and the wider Christmas community — all united in sending light and love to the Birds.
