Grown on the property of the Russ family, this magnificent tree has spent around 75 years reaching its full, symmetrical glory before being selected by Rockefeller Center’s head gardener, Erik Pauze. With its wide 45-foot spread and strong, full branches, it’s the perfect choice to hold the tens of thousands of twinkling LED lights and the iconic Swarovski star that will soon crown it in Midtown Manhattan.
The tree is scheduled to be cut on November 6th before beginning its 130-mile journey to New York City, where it will be carefully hoisted into place at Rockefeller Plaza. Crews will spend days decorating it, transforming it into a glowing beacon of Christmas joy that draws millions of visitors every year.
This year’s lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd — a beloved tradition marking the official start of the holiday season for New Yorkers and festive fans around the world. The tree will remain on display through mid-January, bringing warmth and cheer throughout the winter.
Once the lights are taken down, the story of this spruce doesn’t end there. As part of a longstanding tradition, the wood from the tree will be milled and donated to Habitat for Humanity, giving it a second life in homes built for families in need.
From a quiet yard in East Greenbush to the heart of Rockefeller Center, this 75-foot Norway spruce embodies everything the season stands for — hope, generosity, and the enduring magic of Christmas.
