She is often mentioned in stories and films, but who is Mrs Claus?

Mrs Claus is the wife of Santa Claus.  She has been married to Santa Claus for many years and lives with him and the elves at the North Pole. She is often seen wearing red, a similar outfit to Santa Claus. 

She often wears a white apron and is known for baking cookies.

Her roles also include caring for reindeer and she can often be found cleaning out the stables and nurturing the young reindeer.

She has an important role in deciding who goes on the Naughty and Nice list and she can be found in the Elf workshop helping make toys for good children around the world.

When was the first time we heard of Mrs Claus?

Mrs Claus was first mentioned in 1849. It was in the short story "A Christmas Legend", by James Rees. Since then she has become a household name and is an important part of Christmas.

What is Mrs Claus first name?

No-one really knows Mrs Claus first name. Some people believe it to be Mary. It has also been mentioned as being Christine, Margaret, Holly, Gertrude or Jessica.
