Why do we celebrate Christmas on 25 December?

Why is Christmas on 25th December?

It is believed that Christmas stems from both Pagan and Roman Cultures, but it is so far back, no one really knows.

The Romans celebrated two hoildays in December. Saturnalia which is a two week festival celebrating the God of Agriculture Saturn and on 25th December they celebrated the birth of Mithra their Sun God.

So maybe the 25th December celebrations originate from celebrating the Sun God.
