Cadbury fans have criticized the chocolate brand for "ruining Christmas" after confirming that a beloved festive treat, Festive Friends chocolate-covered biscuits, has been discontinued. Typically available around this time of year, the biscuits' absence left many disappointed, with some fans taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration. One fan even compared the move to "getting rid of Santa," according to reports from The Mirror.

One user wrote: "@CadburyUK what's going on with the Festive Friends this year? I can't find them anywhere! Christmas is getting ruined, and it's only September... fuming. P.S. don't try telling me the Festive Animals are 'the same'..." Another echoed the sentiment, asking: "@CadburyUK hello, have you discontinued Festive Friends?"

Cadbury responded, confirming fans' fears: "Hi there. Our Cadbury Festive Friends aren't returning this year, but don't worry, we have our new Cadbury Festive Animals for you to try. They are the same Animal biscuits you know and love, but with new festive shapes! We enjoy them best dunked in a hot chocolate."

However, one long-time fan wasn't convinced, replying, "I've had Festive Friends since I was a child. Getting rid of them is like getting rid of Santa. Animal biscuits are darker and much smaller than Festive Friends. Why scrap the best item in the festive range?"

Meanwhile, in more positive news for chocolate lovers, a classic 80s chocolate bar name is set to return to the UK after 34 years. The famous Marathon bar, rebranded as Snickers in 1990, will make a limited-time comeback as Mars introduces a "special Marathon retro edition." Steve Waters, senior brand manager, said, "We're excited to bring back the Marathon bar branding for a limited period. It's a great way to celebrate over 90 years of Mars making chocolate in the UK, and we hope fans who remember it will enjoy picking it up again in stores."
