As the twelfth night of Christmas approaches you may be thinking about taking down your Christmas tree, and for those of you who chose a real tree this year you might be thinking about how you're going to dispose of it.

Well, you may not need to, as it turns out there are uses for it that will help you, save you money and help the environment.

Food experts suggest that the needles can be used as citrus/pine flavouring for so many dishes in the way that you would normally add rosemary or bay leaves.

According to John Williams, executive chef of the Ritz restaurant, Mayfair, London, the pines flavour are 'fragrant and spicy' and compliment any dish. The needles are also reportedly a source of Vitamin C and can be used to top desserts, or sit in your icy spirit/mixer drink.

As for the trunk, well it turns out it's a great natural cleaning agent when combined with vinegar. A TikTok influencer 'Armen Adamjan' recently published a video explaining this process.
