It doesn't take long before rumours like this are circulating the internet - we bring news of not only a sequel to the brilliant year 2000 movie 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', but also the rumour that Jim Carrey may be returning.
Having previously decided not to take on another sequel since Ace Venture 2: When Nature Calls, the comedy legend that is Jim Carrey could be soon returning to our screens in a follow on story of that grumpy mean one we know as the Grinch.
He previously said the following about sequels:
“I find sequels are a function of commerce for the most part. At least the two I’ve done, they were characters I enjoyed doing, but I did find myself almost parroting myself at that point.”
In recent years though, he' starred in sequels and also announced he'd be interested in a sequel to the classic 'Bruce Almighty'.

The 2000 version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas was reportedly a difficult and lengthy process for everyone involved, with the hours of prosthetics needed driving Jim Carrey and his makeup artist almost insane. The movie did however return $345 million dollars and was the second-highest-grossing Christmas movie, after Home Alone, before it was recently overtaken by the animated version of the story. With that kind of box office gross, Jim Carrey and The Grinch 2 were only a matter of time.
The exact plot of the sequel movie has not been released, but it’s expected that Universal will want to begin filming sooner rather than later and will be keeping this information quiet until they release a teaser trailer. We're wondering whether the story from the new Dr Seuss story will be used.
We're still awaiting official confirmation of the sequel from Universal Pictures and will be keeping an eye on IMDB. Jim Carrey is also yet to confirm his involvement and recently stated he was looking to retire from acting unless a 'golden script' came along. We can only hope ?
